Cuban refugee Reinier Alcantara is set to join Chivas USA. The Washington Post was told by a representative of the former Cuba international that the striker has been claimed by Chivas USA as part of the MLS discovery process and will begin workouts with the club in two weeks. San Jose is also interested in Alcantara and might pursue him if he is not signed by Chivas, the rep said.

Alcantara sought asylum during his national team's qualifier in Washington in October.
