Chivas USA have confirmed the capture of Agustin Pelletieri.
The Goats have signed the 31-year old Argentine midfielder from homeland outfit Racing Club de Avellaneda subject to the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
Pelletieri, who operates as a defensive midfielder, spent the first decade of his senior career with Buenos Aires province club Lanus before moving on to Avellaneda in 2011 following a loan spell with Greek side AEK Athens in 2008/09.
Chivas head coach Wilmer Cabrera was excited about the addition of Pelletieri who has appeared in more than 250 first team matches for his three previous clubs.
"Agustin is a very experienced and important player, who will be an asset to our team," said Cabrera.
"He has been a captain for a very important club in Argentina for the past four years so he brings leadership on and off the field, which is a very important aspect for us to try to get the results we need this season.
"Technically, he is a very smart player who knows his position very well. He is fantastic at reading the game, and has a very good idea of how to win, possess and distribute the ball. He is a well-rounded player in all aspects."
Pelletieri will step out in his first competitive match for Chivas when they kick off the 2014 MLS season with a home fixture against the Chicago Fire on Sunday, March 9.
