Chivas USA announced on Sunday the signing of youth product Chris Cortez, a California-native and a forward who has played with the U-18 team in the Chivas USA Youth Academy system.
Cortez, from Mission Viejo, Calif. has participated with the Red-and-White in preseason matches and also in the Reserve League, and will be eligible for Sunday's game against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena.
Cortez, 23, has scored four goals in four games in the Reserve League in matches against the Vancouver Whitecaps, LA Galaxy, and the Seattle Sounders. Cortez played one year with UC Berkeley and went to Trabucco Hills High School.
