Chivas USA have announced that midfielder Gerson Mayén and forward Chukwudi Chijindu will join Miami FC of the USSF Division 2 Pro League on loan.
Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
"These moves allow Gerson and Chukwudi to get first-team matches at a high level, and that experience will help them going forward," said Chivas USA Head Coach Martín Vásquez. "We wish them luck and we'll be keeping a close eye on their performance."
Mayén, a Los Angeles native and a Chivas USA Youth Academy product, signed with Red-and-White on March 27, 2008 and made his MLS debut in the second game of the 2009 season, a match in which he also earned his first assist. Mayén played 12 matches in 2009 and had played four games (two starts) in 2010 for the Red-and-White.
Chijindu, a Fontana native, signed with Chivas USA on April 3, 2009, and made his MLS debut in the April 11 Honda Super Clásico against the LA Galaxy, scoring his first goal a week later against Seattle Sounders FC. In 2010, Chijindu had played 12 games (two starts) with the Red-and-White, scoring one goal.
