Alejandro Moreno may miss up to eight MLS games for Chivas USA as he undertakes national team duties for Venezuela this summer.

The 31-year old striker will compete with La Vinotinto at the Copa America, the July 1-24 South American nations championship in Argentina, so will be unavailable for his club during that period.

But Moreno was hopeful that he could sort something out with the national team so his club commitments are not cut too short.

"We're in the middle of trying to figure that out," Moreno said. "We've got FIFA [official fixture] dates for the game against Guatemala and the game against Spain, and I'm going to be apart with the national team with those games, and then, obviously, we have to prepare for Copa America.

“In the preparation, I'm required to be there ahead of time, and we're trying to minimize the number of games I miss here, and hopefully we can work something out."
