Chivas USA not to be sold to Mexican billionaire

Dennis te Kloese, sporting president of Chivas de Guadalajara and Chivas USA, says the clubs will not be sold to Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim.

Reports suggest that the Chivas franchise would be offloaded to a group headed by Slim but te Kloese has vehemently denied those claims.

"It's totally false," te Kloese told ESPN Deportes.

"I'm not saying if the project is solid or not, but that the ownership invested a large quantity of money to buy all of Chivas USA's shares [after the 2012 season] and we can count on the full support of MLS to find an identity, a successful sporting project and little by little grow the credibility and attendance at the stadium.

"I believe he have taken steps on the right path in the past month, but there is still much to do and I know that we can count on the full support of MLS so that it's a success and something [club owners] Jorge [Vergara] and Angelica [Fuentes] can be proud of."
