Chivas USA travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on the USL-1 Charleston Battery in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup third-round match on Tuesday night.
Charleston currently sits atop the USL-1 standings with 27 points from 15 games.
The Battery have allowed just six goals all season, which ties them for the best defence in the league, and are undefeated at home.
"They're a very strong team," said Chivas USA midfielder Paolo Nagamura. "They have home-field advantage and they definitely showed last year how good they can be."
The Battery are no strangers to success in the Open Cup. The team finished as runners-up to D.C. United in 2008, knocking off MLS teams FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo along the way, and was a semifinalist in both 1999 and 2004.
