Chivas USA have announced the signing of Mexican forward Eduardo Lillingston, a 12-year veteran of the Mexican First Division, for the upcoming 2009 MLS season. The 31-year-old Guadalajara native has been training with Chivas USA since the club's preseason trip to Guadalajara in mid-February.
"Eduardo is an experienced player who has shown a good work rate and positive attitude since joining us at our preseason camp in Guadalajara," said Chivas USA Head Coach Preki. "We are happy to have him join our club and look forward to his contributions to Chivas USA this season."
A veteran of Mexican First Division clubs including Toluca, Santos and most recently Tecos UAG, Lillingston is eligible to make his MLS debut for Chivas USA pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 work visa. Chivas USA opens its 2009 MLS campaign on Saturday, March 21 vs. the Colorado Rapids at The Home Depot Center.
