Chivas USA acquire Kevin Harmse from Toronto FC

Chivas USA have acquired midfielder Kevin Harmse in a trade with Toronto FC.

The 24-year-old has been with Toronto FC since the start of the 2008 season, having previously played with North American clubs LA Galaxy (MLS) and the Vancouver Whitecaps (USL-1).

In exchange for Harmse, who will be eligible to play for the Chivas USA after representing Canada at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in July, Chivas sent allocation money to Toronto FC.

"Kevin is a strong, technical player who can play in both midfield and defence," said Chivas USA Head Coach Preki.

"We're excited to welcome him to the club and eager for him to contribute to our team."

In two and a half seasons in MLS, Harmse has played a total of 45 MLS matches (34 starts), having represented the LA Galaxy (2007) and Toronto FC (2008-2009).

Prior to joining MLS, Harmse played for the Vancouver Whitecaps of the USL First Division, as well as Tromso Idrettslag in Norway.

Born on July 4, 1984 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Harmse was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and has made nine appearances for the Canadian National Team.
