Chivas award TV rights to Univision

Spanish language US broadcaster Univision Deportes has acquired the US television rights for Mexican soccer club Chivas de Guadalajara's games, reports SportsPro. The deal will start from July next year, will run for a multiyear period, and will cover the club's domestic league and cup games, as well as all its international friendlies.

"This deal reinforces Univision's commitment to provide the best and most relevant programming to Hispanic audiences," said Cesar Conde, president of Univision Networks.

"We are pleased to continue to deliver the culturally relevant content our audience seeks, while creating opportunities for our partners to connect with the fastest growing consumer segment in the nation."

The broadcaster has now added Chivas, the most successful club in Mexico's football history, to a portfolio that also includes the home games of Toluca, Pumas de la UNAM, Monterrey, Tigres de la UANL, America, Pachuca, Tijuana, Santos, San Luis, Queretaro, Atlas and Atlante, plus away games for the rest of the league's teams.
