Vlad Chiriches hopes to put down roots at Tottenham.
Chiriches has never stayed for more than two years at one club, starting out as a youth team player at Benfica and moving three more times until joining Spurs.
He said: "I played for small teams and it was a step up each time. But the move to Spurs is the biggest step in my life. I don't know about how much my value is. If Spurs paid £8.5million for me then I must be worth it.
"It is incredible to be here and I am proud to play for Tottenham. My girlfriend stayed in England for six or seven years, so settling was easier. My colleagues have done good things for me too."
