Chinese website to offer live Premier League games

The Chinese internet video site Youku is going to offer this season's English Premier League matches live online, reports euFootball.BIZ The 2010 Premier League homepage will be the site of 10 live matches every week; there will also be on demand videos, weekly highlight programmes, goal highlights and behind-the-scene footage of popular stars.

Youku.com is offering this for the first time in three years and there are also sections of the website focusing on popular clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Youku chief editor Zhu Xiangyang said, "This is an unprecedented partnership. We look forward to bringing internet users and football fans the best, most detailed coverage of Premier League matches, and we believe that the range of choices and the wealth of content that we offer users will make for a better viewing experience than any other way of following the matches."

Youku had earlier offered on-demand coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The site, which was launched in December 2006, currently has over 30 million daily unique viewers and 200 million monthly viewers. The estimate is that total user time is over 40 billion minutes a month.
