Newcastle Jets have made a double swoop, securing the services of Chinese striker Zhang Shuo and Italian midfielder Marcello Fiorentini.
26-year old China international Zhang joins from Indonesian Super League outfit Persik Kediri after spending close to a decade with homeland club Tianjin Teda whilst 29-year old Fiorentini has played in Italy for his entire career, spending time with Lazio, Pescara and Palazzolo among others.
Jets CEO John Tsatsimas said the double signing was a great way to slightly alter the previous make-up of the Newcastle squad in a bid to improve on-field performances.
"(We) turned to international talent in order to acquire a few different elements to those which could be found on the domestic front," Tsatsimas said.
"We obviously welcome both of these players to the club and we look forward to their arrival in Newcastle on a more permanent basis in the near future."
The pair join other foreigners Michael Bridges (England), Jeremy Brockie (New Zealand) and Ali Abbas (Iraq) to complete the Jets squad for the upcoming A-League season.
"We're delighted with the squad that we have assembled as we move towards season kick-off in early August," Tsatsimas added.
