A Chinese consortium has shown interest in completing a possible takeover of Newcastle United, according to Sky Sports.
The north-east club has twice been put up for sale by owner Mike Ashley. In 2015, the Sports Direct founder proclaimed that he would not sell the Magpies unless they won a trophy or qualified for the Champions League.
He said "We are now definitely going to win something and, by the way, I shan't be selling until we do.
"[I won't be selling] at any price. And by the way, when I say win something, if we ever get in a position of a Champions League place, that counts as winning something."
But now, it is now understood that the Londoner is willing to listen to any offers for the club.
Newcastle won promotion to the Premier League last campaign after spending only one season in England's second-tier.
If the deal is completed, they will join West Bromwich Albion as the only clubs owned to have Chinese owners, while Manchester City have Chinese company CMC as a 13 per cent stakeholder.
