China hold critics at bay with 6-1 demolition of Vietnam

China have bounced back from last Wednesday's defeat to Syria by demolishing Vietnam 6-1.

A hat-trick to Gao Lin along with goals from Du Wei, Jiang Ning and Hao Junmin did the damage for the Chinese against the ASEAN Champions.

Interim coach Yin Tiesheng felt that his players did a fantastic job to block out all of the media criticism being hurled their way.

"We didn't succumb to the heavy pressure," he said.

"On the contrary, we put the criticism aside to do our best in today's game. The victory showed that Chinese football is still full of promise as long as we regain confidence and stick to the right tactics.

"We gave a good account of ourselves today and the players shook off the gloomy atmosphere to display their best football.

"We did a good job attacking by scoring six goals but I think we wasted a few other good opportunities."

China have jumped to the top of the Group D table but second-placed Syria has a game in hand.
