Chicago Fire's Soumare still on outer after Hamlett incident

Chicago Fire defender Bakary Soumare is still on the outer after being involved in an altercation with coach Denis Hamlett three weeks ago.

The Mali international almost came to blows with Hamlett at half-time of the 3-2 loss to Houston Dynamo on August 9 and has not trained with the group since or appeared in any matches, preferring to do his fitness work with the club's strength and conditioning coach.

Hamlett was tight-lipped when asked about Soumare's situation, saying things were normal.

"Nothing has changed on our end," Hamlett said. "He's still working out with us, but nothing else has changed."

Soumare's agent, Diego Gutierrez, said that his client may be involved with a transfer move if things did not improve.

"The comments made about Baky's lack of commitment ... couldn't be further from the truth," Gutierrez said.

"As we spoke about a transfer earlier in the year, which was turned down, he was committed and he continued to do what he was asked. Baky's very sure on where he stands."
