Chicago Fire's Nyarko eyeing US team

Chicago Fire winger Patrick Nyarko admits he would be open to representing the USA national team if the opportunity arose.

The 26-year old Ghanaian has been a permanent US resident for the past year and although he would love to play for his home country, he has also made it clear that the chance to represent his adopted nation would be something he would not hesitate to do.

"Right now, absolutely no question about it that I would consider that," he told MLSsoccer.com.

"I'm at the peak of my career, I just turned 26, and if I sit down and say I'm waiting on Ghana to call me, I might wait till my career is over. I would definitely be interested [in the US]."

And the US team wants him, Nyarko believes that citizenship would not be too hard to obtain.

"I've gotten the hint that if it comes to sports, [citizenship] can definitely be expedited," he added. "They can help it go faster than it normally does."
