Chicago Fire re-signs Mexico great Pardo

Chicago Fire have re-signed veteran midfielder Pavel Pardo prior to the 2012 MLS season.

The 35-year old former Mexico international joined the Fire in July 2011 on a short-term deal but he has now penned a new contract and will remain at Toyota Park although terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Pavel helped kick-start our turnaround at the end of last season," said Chicago Fire head coach Frank Klopas.

"He provides tremendous experience for us in the middle of the park, serves as a great example for our younger players and plays for the badge every time he steps on the field."

Former Club America and VfB Stuttgart ace Pardo made 14 appearances for the Fire last season, scoring one goal and providing five assists, as the club won seven of their last 10 league matches.
