Chicago Fire move back on for Man Utd midfielder Schweinsteiger

A move to Chicago Fire is back on for Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Sun says Schweinsteiger, 32, has another year left on his United deal but is expected to be allowed to leave for nothing if a club comes in.

And reports in the US claim he is expected to pen a £90,000-a-week deal with MLS outfit Chicago Fire this summer, with Jose Mourinho still adamant he has no need for the World Cup winner.

The midfielder earns around £140,000 a week and has already been told he can leave, with United prepared to tear up his contract to save themselves around £6million.

Brazilian club Santos eyed Schweini as a marquee signing towards the end of last year.

But a move to the States has always appeared favourite, with LA Galaxy having rivalled Chicago Fire for the player's signature.
