Chicago Fire knock off Mexico's Monarcas de Morelia

The Chicago Fire have defeated Monarcas de Morelia of the Mexican First Division 3-1 preseason exhibition match in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. Chicago took the lead in the first half through a Brian McBride header. Morelia responded well in the second half and levelled the game through a Sergio Blanca's penalty.

With the encounter evenly poised Chicago defender Austin Washington guided his team's second goal with his head from a Chris Rolfe cross. Mike Banner secured the victory late in the game with a stunning free-kick that semi circled the Morelia wall.

Chicago will return to Chicago on Thursday before departing for their next leg of preseason training, in Los Angeles, Calif., on Monday, March 2nd.
