Chicago Fire interested in trialist Glouftsis

Chicago Fire are believed to be considering an offer for Greek trialist Stavros Glouftsis.

The 28-year old has been on trial with the Fire for the past two weeks and technical director Frank Klopas admitted there was some interest in him.

"He's a good player," said Klopas. "It's always tough when you come at this point of the season. The only negative [thing] I would say is that we didn't have an opportunity to see him in a full match.

"He showed good stuff in training and we got to sit down and talk about with the coaching staff and see if there's an opportunity to do something. He did well.

"He had an opportunity to be here almost two weeks," added Klopas. "I think we have a good picture by now of what [he] can do. We just have to see how he fits best with our club."

Glouftsis most recently spent time with Dutch third division club K Rupel Boom FC where he scored 27 goals in 34 appearances.
