Chicago Fire have added Brazilian midfielder Alex Monteiro De Lima to their roster.

The 23-year old, who trialed with Chicago during pre-season, has joined the Fire as a free agent after spending most of the last two seasons with Swiss club FC Wohlen and will be available when the transfer window opens on June 27.

"Alex is a special player that we're proud to add to our roster," Fire head coach Frank Klopas said in a statement.

"After having the opportunity to see him play for Wohlen last year, Alex joined us for part of our preseason, where he showed the ability to contribute to our club."
