Chicago Fire appoints ex-Ipswich Town star Yallop

Chicago Fire have appointed Frank Yallop as their new head coach.

The 49-year old former Ipswich Town defender replaces Frank Klopas at the helm of the Fire following his six-year stint with San Jose Earthquakes which ended in June.

Yallop admitted that he was excited about his new role and was looking forward to developing the playing group he inherited from Klopas who stepped down earlier this week.

"I think the nucleus of this squad is good," Yallop said after agreeing to a multi-year contract.

"It's making sure I get the best out of the guys I have and adding some players I feel will enhance the team I already have."
