Chicago Fire forward Mike Magee is determined to force his way into calculations for the USA's squad for next year's World Cup.
The 29-year old picked up the 2013 MLS MVP after scoring 21 goals for both the Fire and the LA Galaxy in a year which saw him traded from a club where he won two MLS Cups to the team of his hometown.
After a scintillating 2013, Magee is now hoping to be called up for the US camp on January 6 before making his presence felt ahead of next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
"I hope I get called into camp because that's what I'm now training for," Magee told the NY Times.
"I'm training to be in that camp and if I'm not, I'll lie and say I'm getting ready for our preseason.
"Of course I want to be on that World Cup roster. In the past, when I wasn't called in, it was a little disappointing because I know what I'm capable of doing and know that I could help the team."
Magee, who represented the US at U17 and U20 levels, is yet to make his senior international debut.
