Chesterfield boss desperate for reinforcements

Chesterfield boss John Sheridan needs new blood at the B2net Stadium ahead of the visit of local rivals Sheffield United. The 5-2 defeat at Oldham on Saturday left the Spireites rooted to the bottom of the League One table.

The window for emergency loan deals closes on Thursday, as Chesterfield prepare to go into the Blades clash on a nine-game winless run in the league.

"I don't think loan players is the answer but if I can get some players who I can then bring in permanently I will," Sheridan said.

"I need to bring somebody in to give us a lift for the big game on Saturday and then the Christmas period.

"I need someone in who is going to try and get us going on the pitch. We are okay going forward, it is the goals we concede. People must be watching thinking `here we go again` because we are letting goals in for fun. The turnaround has got to come quickly, we can't drop any lower."
