Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker has been forced on the defensive over the uncertainty of current boss Paul Allen who was put on gardening leave back on October 20 following allegations of racial abuse towards a nightclub bouncer, something he strongly denies. Over three weeks have now passed with no word from the club regarding developments as they carry out an internal investigation into the matter, while Gloucestershire Police have already revealed they will be taking no action over the matter.
In an extract from a statement on the club's official website, Baker said: "The club notes the comments of Robins Trust chairman Clive Gowing in Wednesday's Gloucestershire Echo and fully understands and appreciates the frustration felt by him and indeed all supporters at the lack of information coming from the club at the present time, in particular regard to the managerial situation.
"However, for legal reasons we are unable to comment further at this time."
