Chelsea's Terry prepared to take England bench role

Chelsea captain John Terry says he's happy to start from the bench for England in their Euro2008 qualifier against Estonia.

The second Euro 2008 qualifier against Russia is the harder of the two and head coach Steve McClaren wants to be sure his captain, one booking away from a ban, is there to lead the side.

The Chelsea defender has no concerns about his fitness despite a fractured cheekbone but said: "You have got to think for the team overall. Steve has not told me yet but I will sit down with him and have a chat. I will do what is right for the team."
