Chelsea's Terry backs Cole for England attack

Chelsea captain John Terry has urged England boss Steve McClaren to play Joe Cole as a second striker this week.

Terry said: "Coley has the ability to play as the second striker ... and he'd totally love it.

"Wazza (Wayne Rooney) does that dropping off defenders and Joe would be ideal for that. He's the type of player who can create something from nothing."

The England skipper has been playing through the pain barrier of a broken toe and is even training with a hole in his boot for the toe to stick out of to ease the pressure. He revealed: "I don't want to miss a game, so I'm having an injection that numbs the pain for three or four hours."
