Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel admits luck played a role in their Champions League triumph last season.

The Nigerian midfielder achieved a lifetime's ambition when he lifted the European Cup after beating Bayern Munich in May.

He said: "Before the final we all knew some players were going to be leaving us and it would be their last chance to win the Champions League with Chelsea.

"Yes, we were kind of lucky to win it but we worked so hard for everything we achieved last season.

"And we're still hungry to win more trophies."
