Chelsea's Makelele commits to France

Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele says he'll stick with France right through to Euro2008.

Makelele retired from international football after Euro 2004, only to be coaxed back by Zinedine Zidane. He called time again after the 2006 World Cup Final and was annoyed when Raymond Domenech continued to pick him. Then Makelele said he'd play in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, but not the finals.

And now?

"It's true that I said I wouldn't play at the Euro 2008 finals, but I've changed my mind," he said. "I've never won a trophy with France, but just being part of things is an enormous thing. International football has given me some great times, so why give up now?"
