Frank Lampard is prepared to battle it out for a place in Fabio Capello's England midfield.
The Chelsea star has found himself the target of abuse from a sizeable number of England supporters in recent times and he was a member of the side which failed so spectacularly against Croatia back in November.
"I'm not concerned about it, it's a challenge," Lampard told the Mail on Sunday.
"Other players can come in and put themselves in contention. You shouldn't have it all your own way with England year after year.
"But I enjoy a challenge, the idea of another player coming in and people saying he should play.
"I can come back and show that I should play. That's what I intend to do whoever plays against Switzerland."
