Chelsea's Ferreira puts Europe ahead of Premiership

Paulo Ferreira has his ambitions set firmly on the Champions League despite Chelsea's new challenge for the Premier League title.

In his four years at Chelsea, they have twice been knocked out of the Champions League by Liverpool in the semi-finals.

And when asked what he would like most to achieve this season, the Portuguese defender said: "I would have to say the Champions League, and I think we can do it.

"With Chelsea I've won the Premier League twice, the Carling Cup twice and last season we added the FA Cup. And although I've won the Champions League with Porto, it's something I would love to do with Chelsea.

"We're a big club and everyone here wants that trophy.

"So we'll do everything we can to make it happen and we'll keep trying until it does. But we also want to get the Premier League crown back too."

Ferreira reckons Chelsea, despite being outsiders for much of the season, can take back the title from Manchester United.

"It's still very close at the top," he told The Official Chelsea magazine.

"No team is running away with it and in a competition like the Premier League anything can happen."
