Michael Essien was delighted with his cameo in Chelsea's FA Cup victory over Coventry City.

"First of all it is great to be back," Essien told ITV. "I have missed football so I am really happy and I am looking forward to the games ahead.

"It is really hard but I have been really patient and today I have made my comeback so I am happy." Chelsea striker Didier Drogba said of his returning teammate: "We have missed him a lot and we are really happy for him to be back in the team and to come on the pitch and do what is his best thing - playing football.

"I am happy for him to be back."
