Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole says David Beckham can continue starring for England while he's playing in the USA with LA Galaxy.
Many doubt whether he will be able to combine an international career with playing for the Galaxy in Major League Soccer, where the standard in compared to the Coca-Cola Championship.
But his England team-mate Cole has no doubts.
"As a sportsman that is the most satisfying thing. When you prove people wrong it's a great thing and Becks will prove himself, I am sure of it.
"When he pulls on an England shirt he puts in a performance most of the time.
"He played brilliantly in the two games. He made three of the four goals and if he keeps doing that we will all be delighted.
"He has nothing to prove to anyone. His career has been fantastic, particularly for England.
"He has come back and looks 10 years younger. He is brilliant.
"Crossing the ball is what he has been renowned for but he brings more to the party.
"When he is not creating goals he is working so hard for the team. That is what we need. We have four attacking midfielders so we all have to make little sacrifices."
Cole suggested Beckham's international rejuvenation could be linked with the fact he no longer carries the pressure and responsibilities of captaincy.
He told Sportsweek on Radio Five Live: "Maybe Becks thrived on it, a little less responsibility was maybe good for him.
"When you are on the pitch you have (Steven) Gerrard, Beckham, (Frank) Lampard, (John) Terry, (Michael) Owen - they have all captained top sides. There are lots of leaders and you don't just look to one man."
