Chelsea's Cech named UEFA keeper of year

Chelsea's Petr Cech has been named Uefa's Club Goalkeeper of the Year.

The Czech shot-stopper received the award at the draw for the UEFA Champions League after seeing off competition from the likes of Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

Cech's award marks a considerable return to fortune after he recovered from a career threatening head injury earlier in the season to help Chelsea reach the semi-final of the Champions League.

Milan trio Paolo Maldini, Clarence Seedorf and Kaka collected the defensive, midfield and forward accolades after helping the Italian outfit lift the trophy in Athens.
