Former Chelsea starlet Jacob Mellis has agreed a two-year deal with ChampionshipBarnsley and is expected to sign later this week. The 21 year old midfielder spent a successful loan spell with the Reds in 2011, making 15 appearances.
He was released from his Chelsea contract along with team-mate Billy Clifford after setting off a smoke grenade at the club's training ground.
An England U16, U17 and U19 international, he made one senior appearance for the Blues, in a Champions League group match in 2010.
BBC Radio Sheffield also understand Egypt and former Spurs striker Mido is set for talks with Barnsley boss Keith Hill on Thursday.
