Conor Clifford has been forced to leave Plymouth Argyle and return to Chelsea.
Clifford's loan deal with Plymouth Argyle, which yesterday was extended until January 22, has been rejected by the Football League.
The League viewed the agreement as a new loan, rather than an extension, and because the Pilgrims have been made the subject of a winding-up order since the midfielder headed to the south coast, his registration has been declined.
The midfielder made eight appearances for Plymouth.
