Chelsea winger Joe Cole says winning the World Cup is England's only target.

Cole is adamant that reaching the last eight should be the bare minimum with the current squad and admitted that not reaching the final would be a major disappointment.

He told the London Evening Standard: "I loved my time in 2006 but I want to finish my England career winning something and this is the best chance with the players we've got and the manager. If everyone believes we can do it, we can do it.

"People still talk to me about the last World Cup and the goal against Sweden but I want to go to South Africa and be part of a team that is going to do something better than that.

"We got to the quarter-finals last time and we want to go further. Everyone in the nation is excited and all the players in the squad are so excited, we just can't wait to get going.

"Let's just hope the whole country gets behind us, I know they are. As a nation we can't wait for it to start."
