Chelsea are prepared to bid for AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas.

Chelsea are shopping in Serie A for a defensive signing and are in advanced talks with Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

Sportitalia says along with a meeting over Rugani yesterday, a Chelsea delegation also held a summit with Roma about Manolas.

Chelsea are willing to pay the Greece international's buyout clause - which is set at €36-38m.

For their part, Roma are willing to cash in, though the final decision will be left to Manolas.
