Chelsea are lining up an £18 million bid for Napoli midfield ace Marek Hamsik.
The Sunday Times says Chelsea are considering an £18m move for Hamsik as they prepare for a spending spree that could top £30m in the January transfer window - potentially their final opportunity to invest in new players until the summer of 2011.
Hamsik is considered one of Serie A's most dangerous midfielders, making his debut in Italy's top division at 17 and joining Napoli for £5m in 2007. At 6ft, an unusually strong physical presence for a creative midfielder, Hamsik has been Napoli's top scorer for the past two seasons and has already netted five times in eight games this term.
