Chelsea want to take first option on Internacional de Porto Alegre starlet Alexandre Pato.

The teenager will be watched by Chelsea scouts at the U20 World Championships in Canada, however it's emerged that Chelsea are eager to strike terms with Internacional immediately over concerns that rivals Inter Milan and Porto are ready to splash out on the 17 year-old.

Chelsea want to sign Pato now and take him to London when he turns 18 on September 2. Gilmar Veloz, Pato's agent, insists the youngster won't leave Brazil until the end of the year, but Chelsea are planning to open talks now to clinch his signature ahead of European rivals.
