Chelsea are ready to challenge Manchester United for Porto star James Rodriguez. The London Evening Standard says Roman Abramovich has his eye on three of the hottest prospects in world football - all South American - as he bids to strengthen in January.

Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has a £44m clause in his contract.

The club will also launch a bid for Porto's James Rodriguez who has a release clause of £36m. And it will cost the Chelsea owner £48m if he wishes to prize Uruguay international Edinson Cavani from Napoli.
