CHELSEA v NORWICH CITY RECAP: Blues end winless run with victory over Canaries

Diego Costa's strike handed Chelsea their first win in four Premier League outings as they defeated Norwich City 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The reigning Premier League Champions had to wait until the 64th minute for Costa's opener, with the Spanish international capitalising on Cesc Fabregas' quickly taken free-kick to calmly side foot the ball inside the far post.

Kurt Zouma rattled the woodwork a shot time later as Chelsea dominated the contest and were perhaps unlucky not to win by a bigger margin.

The result saw Chelsea leapfrog the Canaries into 15th place on the Premier League ladder.

TALKING POINTS

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard looked far more comfortable after being switched to the number 10 role against Norwich and will be vital to the Blues' hopes of rediscovering the form which saw them win the league last season.

The Canaries have now won just once in the past eight Premier League fixtures and now sit only three points clear of the drop zone.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Chelsea travel to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham on Saturday, while Norwich host Arsenal at Carrow Road on Sunday.

QUOTES CORNER

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho felt his team should have won by more:

"The only thing we didn't do was score more from the chances we had.

“We should have scored at least two and breathed easier, but it is difficult for us to score goals and to keep a clean sheet against a team who plays defensively and then has a try in the final few minutes because they had nothing to lose."

Norwich boss Alex Neil was happy with the effort of his troops:

"I am disappointed. I thought our players worked really hard, I felt we gave Chelsea very little and we worked really hard.

"We put some fresh legs on as the game went on, and tried to create problems. Arguably we could have done more but I am happy with my players."
