Atletico Madrid have reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to sign Diego Costa from Chelsea.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Blues have rejected an offer from the Spanish club of a player-plus-cash deal which would see Jackson Martinez move the other way to Stamford Bridge.

Costa left Atletico to join Chelsea in the summer of 2014 and has been linked with a potential return to Vicente Calderon Stadium but the West London club are in no mood to sell.

Colombian striker Martinez joined Los Rojiblancos from Porto in the summer but has struggled in Spain, scoring just three goals in 22 appearances, prompting Diego Simeone to ponder a swap deal.

However, Guus Hiddink has no plans to get rid of Costa who has returned to form in recent weeks with six goals in his past seven matches in all competitions.
