Chelsea trio hit hard for smoke bomb prank

Two Chelsea supporters have been sent to prison for one month after being arrested for possessing smoke bombs at an away match against Swansea in the Capital One Cup, reports the Daily Mail. They have also been banned from attending football games for six years, while a third supporter involved was also banned for the same length of time.

Chelsea have barred the trio from Stamford Bridge for ten years each.

Supporters were warned by the club in the weeks leading up to the game that offenders would be treated harshly.

The club released a statement on Friday which read: 'There has also recently been an increase in the presence of flares and fireworks at games, which have the potential to cause harm and distress, and are a fire risk.

'They are banned by law inside football stadiums, and Chelsea FC will work closely with police and staff at other grounds to ensure such offences and dangerous behaviour is prevented.'
