Chelsea have been told it will take £8.5 million for Eduardo Vargas. Superdeporte says, according to sources at the striker's club Universidad de Chile, Chelsea have already made an offer of £6.4m.

Russian club Zenit St Petersburg have made a similar offer, but the Chilean club are believed to be holding out for £8.5m. Other clubs chasing the striker include Valencia and AC and Inter Milan.

Chelsea scout Piet de Visser is said to be in the Chilean capital at the moment to negotiate a deal for the 21-year-old and a deal could be completed during January's transfer window.
