Chelsea thrash Swansea in FA Youth Cup

Chelsea thrashed Swansea City 6-0 in their FA Youth Cup tie yesterday.

The win sees Chelsea reach the Cup quarterfinals.

Tammy Abraham netted twice in the first half before Dominic Solanke struck less than a minute after the restart to put the holders firmly in control of the fifth-round tie.

Abraham then completed his hat-trick with a close-range finish before substitute Kasey Palmer and a second for Solanke rounded off another impressive night for the youth team.

Blues coach Joe Edwards told chelseafc.com: "We started well but I think that comfortable start dragged us into a little bit of a false sense of security.

"We let Swansea into the game more than we should have done and they showed more threat on the break than Huddersfield in the last round, but I felt we could be doing a lot more.

"It's another learning curve for us; a few players weren't as aggressive and on the front foot with their decision-making and passing as in the last game, but we addressed that quite strongly at half-time and came out with a different performance in the second half.

"Brad has made some fantastic saves for us. Clean sheets are things you can celebrate at times but other times you mustn't let them paper over the mistakes you're making and we can definitely reflect on that because I expect the quarter-final to be a much tougher game."
