Chelsea are expected to test the resolve of Blackburn Rovers' new owners with a January bid for defender Phil Jones.

The People says departing Chelsea football chief Frank Arnesen made a personal check on Jones recently.

Arnesen has been working on finding Chelsea a new centre-half and an attacking midfielder for the January window. His departure isn't expected to end Chelsea's interest in Jones.
