Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has joked about a January move to Olympique Marseille.

Giroud has been linked with OM in the past week amid claims of Chelsea assuring the World Cup winner that new contract talks will be opened before Christmas.

Asked about the OM rumours, Giroud joked with Telefoot: "A return to Ligue 1? Yes, it has already crossed my mind. They're big and need a striker.

"I could be the big striker of OM? Yes it must be that (laughs)!"

Despite his words, it was made clear Giroud was speaking strictly with tongue in cheek.
