Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has again shrugged off comparisons with Stéphane Guivarc'h.

Like Guivarc'h, Giroud won the World Cup with France without scoring in the tournament.

He said, "I take things very positively. I was told that I was having a World Cup like Guivarc'h (0 goal scored in 1998)? Yeah, Guivarc'h, he is world champion and he will remember it all his life!

"So I told myself that if I did not score and that I was world champion, I would be the happiest. I would not have preferred scoring five goals and not being world champion.

"It happened like that, it was a little my destiny."
